There's a little movie star in Prince George who has played a crying boy in one light-hearted Disney movie and a ghost boy in another.

The next role is much more serious.

Ameko Eks Mass Carroll was just three years old when he took on the role of a boy who dies in Angels Crest, a movie which will debut Friday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. It is one of 12 films up for a Narrative Competition award at the festival.

The tear-jerker is about a young boy, Nate, who freezes to death on an ice-fishing trip with his father and the resulting aftermath of the tragedy told through flashbacks.

This was Ameko's biggest role yet and mom, Amber, said she's not sure what ended up on the cutting room floor, but she knows he was in at least five scenes in the movie that are crucial to setting the mood and tone of the film.

Ameko, who is now five, got the part through casting director Jackie Lind, who was also involved in Ameko's other performances, including a short film called Sikat, a crying boy in Disney's direct-to-DVD Search for Santa Paws and his role as ghost boy in Spooky Buddies, which will be released in time for Halloween.

The film premiers Friday at the Tribeca Film Festival, which is celebrating its 10th year and was started by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff to help rebuild New York's spirit after the tragedy of 9-11.

DeNiro will be at the festival along with Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese and Elton John who is performing an opening number.

"I can only hope that any of these amazing people get a chance to view Angels Crest," said Amber, adding the film is too intense for Ameko to actually go see himself so they won't be making the trip.
