Holiday Dreams, a Spectacular Holiday Cirque, can be enjoyed Nov. 29 at CN Centre. It's a show suitable for the whole family.

In today’s world where people living in the same household are watching television in different rooms or spending time on their computers and cells phones to create their own little world, going out to Holiday Dreams, a Spectacular Holiday Cirque, at CN Centre in Prince George on Nov. 29 sounds like the perfect way to reconnect and enjoy a show together.

It’s a fun, exciting and technologically advanced show that’s family friendly, Fernando Quevedo, creator, producer, director said.

“When we were putting the show together we wanted to create something that was a little bit more modern,” Quevedo said.

People are used to seeing the traditional shows at Christmas time but this show takes the tech up a notch to offer a unique story offering bigger-than-life features to really amp up the wow factor.

The show sees a mischievous elf mail himself to South Beach so he can go on vacation in a hot spot but things don’t go as planned and he ends up redirected to Canada, the frozen north, and finds out what Christmas is really all about, Quevedo explained.

“When it comes to the holograms it’s really quite magical as people and things appear and disappear out of thin air with the theme of the holidays, which in itself is quite magical,” Quevedo said. “Projection mapping is a technique where we project images onto surfaces and sometimes we can trick the eye into seeing something else. We really wanted to portray the magic of Christmas in a theatrical sense. We live in a time where there are super-hero movies and video games so we thought we needed to up the game for live theatre so we’re very excited about our version of a Christmas holiday show.”

But that’s not the best part. It’s the performers – the dare devils, acrobats, contortionists and jugglers, who really make the show.

“The technology always takes a backseat to the incredible talent of our diverse performers,” Quevedo said. “The daredevils in the show use BMX bikes and they use ramps to fling themselves from and do incredible flips and we have tramp wall artists who jump from a wall to land – hopefully – on a trampoline. It’s a mixture of acrobatics and specialty acts and daredevils. I think we have a good formula that we know the audience loves.”

This show is a chance for families to get together to have some fun, Quevedo said.

“We want families to be engaged and make some memories,” he added. “We want people to look back on the show and remember for years to come this special holiday show.”
