Longtime former Prince George resident Stan Chung is returning to town for a reading from his book Global Citizen: River of Love and Other Stories on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Books and Company, 1685 Third Avenue.

Chung is a former English instructor at CNC, where he taught from 1989 to 2003.

"Prince George will always be my home," said Chung. "I love the people and the strong sense of community. I am very proud to be from Prince George. "

The book is part memoir and part essays on growing up in Canada. It deals with contradictions and paradoxes of living a globalized existence.

Chung is an award-winning writer, and the dean of arts and sciences at Camosun College.

Born in Seoul, he was raised in Williams Lake, and studied at UBC (BA Hons), University of Toronto (MA), and Simon Fraser University (PDP).

Chung has 20 years experience in the B.C. college sector, including six years of senior experience as director, associate dean, acting dean and dean. In 2008 he was selected as one of 230 to attend the Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference.

A passionate advocate for innovation and learning, Chung speaks regularly on educational issues while pursuing scholarly interests in transformational learning, community leadership, and advocacy journalism.

Chung is a writer with over 600 published articles in a variety of publications. He was runner-up at the CBC Literary Awards and has published in AdBusters, Mission Review, Kelowna Daily Courier, Pentiction Herald, and Prince George Citizen. His feature column Global Citizen is published in The Okanagan Sunday.

Chung looks forward to returning to Prince George and invites everyone to attend his reading on Sunday.
