Festival d'hiver 2010 Francaphone winter Festival is part of le cercle des canadiens franais' 50th Anniversary celebration, which will take place Saturday to Feb. 6.

Opening ceremonies will take place Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Columbus Community Centre, 7201 Domano Blvd. There will be a concert and dance with Edith Butler as Mother Acadia. Les Colons Biens, a local folk dance group, will also perform. For more information or tickets call 250-561-2565.

Free Preschool Storytime will take place Monday at Cercle des Candadiens-Francais at 1752 Fir St. On Monday and Tuesday there will be school workshop with Edith Butler at Westwood Mennonite Church, 2658 S Ospika Blvd.

Free Seniors' luncheon for members, families and friends will take place on Wednesday at 11:45 at Exploration Place, 333 Becott Place. To register call 250-561-2565.

On Wednesday there is a free movie night at CNC beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a hockey game and family skate at College Heights Community Rink Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The Sugar Shack Brunch will take place Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Hall at 1088 Gillett. For tickets call 250-561-2565.

Free activities Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mary's Hall include an amateur sculpture contest, demo dog sleigh ride, parade, hose sleigh rides, cross cut, snow shoe and hammering competition, toffee on snow, as well as draws and a silent auction.
