Four bands, two nights, one Halloween extravaganza.

The Prince George Legion isn't a place designed to scare the public, but it is a place where the public is called in to be entertained. With Halloween's date tucked into the early part of next week, this weekend is the all-out musical monster mash at the downtown showroom.

It begins tonight when popular local prog-rock band Crones joins forces with alterna-soul band High Society from Vancouver.

"We hope you are all as excited as we are," said a Crones social media statement.

"This Friday, instead of staying inside and binge-watching Stranger Things, go outside, be social, wear a costume, go watch live music at the Legion."

Then on Saturday, Cariboo modern folkie Sam Tudor opens the night for Hamilton's power troubadour Wax Mannequin. Danny Bell, concert promoter with Mad Loon Entertainment organizing both events, said "costumes basically required" just to spice up the Halloween fun of it.

For both shows, admission is $10 with doors opening at 8 p.m. an hour ahead of the first chord.

For those who like quieter doses of music, tonight is also an opportunity to go to Oakroom Grill for an intimate concert by singer-songwriter Vanessa Wittstruck starting at 8 p.m. It's free of charge with Oakroom dining.

There is even time to see Wittstruck's full set and still get in most of the Crones / High Society double bill downtown.

Looking further along the calendar, Mad Loon is hosting a multi-act hootenanny on Nov. 18, all of the music provided by talent from across northern B.C.

"We'll start the evening off with sets by both Saltwater Hank and (myself) with special guests Amy Blanding and Chloe Nakahara," said Bell.

"Then, we'll kick off a party-dance set from Folky Strum Strum which will continue until the wee hours of the evening."

That event also happens at The Legion.
