The legendary Downchild Blues Band is coming for a fall date at Vanier Hall - a stage big enough for their many players and big sound.
Not your standard compact travelling blues act, these consummate Chicago-style players come packing a horn section plus a thudding rhythm section, cracklin' guitars and growling vocals, interspersed with colourful harmonica.
Actors Dan Akroyd and John Belushi credited Downchild as being the inspiration for their hit movie franchise The Blues Brothers. Their first hit record was in 1973, their first Juno Award was in 1981 and their most recent Juno win was 2014. Downchild will surge onto the Vanier Hall stage on Oct. 21 for a Saturday night special event. Tickets are on sale now at Studio 2880 (purchase by phone at 250-563-2880 or email [email protected] for information).
