A local real estate agent was once a skateboarder who loved all style of music.
Now as DJ Ricky Business, Rick Kerbrat and DJ partner Nelos, also known as Neil Steinbart, will appear at Nancy O's as it transitions from restaurant to primary liquor licence establishment that can offer a stronger night life option in downtown Prince George.
The DJs perform their show, entitled Sicker than Your Average... Saturdays, at 8 p.m. Sept. 3.
"I've always been really into music and finally just decided to start DJing because it's so much fun to play the new tracks and I find that a lot of the music I like -- no one else in town is really playing yet," said Kerbrat. "I know it's big all over the world, LA, New York and Europe and I've just really got into it and love it."
Steinbart and Kerbrat met at a local pub, where Steinbart had started a DJ night years ago and when his DJ partner left, another pair took over the gig.
"We felt our genres blended really well together, we liked the same kind of music and Nancy O's is just a good fit for that," Kerbrat said. "We're passionate about downtown P.G. so having a local business that's different from a lot of other places in Prince George made it just perfect."
Kerbrat said the music they play isn't rave music.
"You know the stuff we play is not too in your face but it's upbeat," he said. "It's more pop music so people can come out have drinks and still chat at their tables."
The audience that usually attends Sicker Than Your Average... Saturdays range from university students to people in their 30s, Kerbrat added.
"I am downloading new music every single day," said Kerbrat. "Because music gets released so fast these days we play new music every week. A lot of it people wouldn't have heard before but we know they'll really like it."
Tickets are at Nancy O's, 1261 Third Avenue.
