Coldsnap Music Festival set to take the stage

After a bit of a delay Coldsnap Music Festival is kicking off March 25 with live and online performances.

Three time JUNO-Award nominated Nuela Charles is an alternative/soul singer songwriter who will perform at the Coldsnap Music Festival on March 26.

After a bit of a delay, Coldsnap Music Festival is kicking off March 25 with live and online performances.

First up are artists Kathleen Nisbet and Jeanette Kotowich, along with Early Spirit at Uda Dune Baiyoh (House of Ancestors Conference Centre), 355 Vancouver St., March 25 at 7:30 p.m.

This kick off performance is followed by Sizzlin’ Saturday Night featuring Zavan Trio and Nuela Charles at Uda Dune Baiyoh (House of Ancestors Conference Centre), 355 Vancouver St., March 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. the festival switches it up to present Coldsnap for Kids with Kym Gouchie at Uda Dune Baiyoh (House of Ancestors Conference Centre), 355 Vancouver St.

A Big Boomin’ Sunday takes place March 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Uda Dune Baiyoh (House of Ancestors Conference Centre), 355 Vancouver St., featuring The Boom Booms and Genevieve Jade.

Regional Rock and Roots takes place Tuesday, March 29 at the Royal Canadian Legion at 7:30 p.m. featuring The Brain Porter, Seb & Chloe and Cold South.

Guitar Masters goes on March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Performance Venue, Trinity United Downtown, 1448 Fifth Avenue, a showcase featuring The North Sound and Linda McRae & Doug Cox.

Music is Medicine takes place Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Performance Venue, Trinity United Downtown, 1448 Fifth Avenue, featuring Karl Wyssen and the Sarah Smith Trio.

A Grand Friday will be celebrated Friday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Performance Venue, Trinity United Downtown, 1448 Fifth Avenue, featuring Maria Dunn and Murray Porter.

Sensational Singers are featured on Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Performance Venue, Trinity United Downtown, 1448 Fifth Avenue, showcasing Hasaatuk and Clerel.

As part of the Coldsnap Festival program, in partnership with Integris Credit Union, Sound Factory and Omineca Ars Centre, the event includes a series of free workshops offered by the musicians who perform at the festival as they share their knowledge of music with those in attendance, including online through the  Coldsnap Festival Facebook page.

Workshops include The Joy of Jigging March 26 at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, from noon to 1 p.m., featuring Kathleen Nisbet & Jeanette Kotowich.

Celebrate Heritage and Healing March 29 at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, with Forrest Eaglespeaker and Nevada Freistat as they talk about music, representation and family.

The Stories, the Instrument, the Songs takes place March 30 at noon at at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, with Linda McRae and Doug Cox.

How to Use Music as Medicine goes March 31 at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, at noon featuring Sarah Smith.

Rez Blues goes April 1 at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, at noon featuring Elaine Bomberry and Murray Porter.

There is a special workshop that offers the opportunity to create your own drum during Introduction to Drum Making and Traditional Teachings March 28 at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. with Guy Prince. There is a $150 cost to this workshop.
