Coldsnap 2022 has been postponed until later this year. Seen here is a performance at Coldsnap's 2020 festival.

Because of the current rise in numbers for those testing positive for the coronavirus, the Coldsnap Music Festival has been postponed.

“The safety of our audience, artists, volunteers and staff remains paramount and we have decided to postpone the festival for several weeks,” said the statement posted on the Coldsnap website by the Prince George Folkfest Society that holds the popular event.

Last year musicians performing during the festival were all from BC and the festival was held virtually and livestreamed to audiences.

This year the goal was for in-person shows.

The festival will be held at a later date and organizers are checking availability for artists.

There will also be some changes to the original format as well.

“We plan to keep the livestream portion of the format, as well as the daytime workshops, but the heart of the festival has been and will continue to be the presentation of live music so the focus will be on when we can get the artists here,” said the online statement. “All the performers too are very excited to play in front of a live audience, regardless of the size.”

Organizers wish to thank everyone who has bought tickets.

“Your support fills us with the desire to do everything we can to present these amazing musicians with their awe-inspiring music,” organizers said. “We hope you will keep your tickets to shows that feature the same artists, although the dates will be different – all tickets will be honoured for shows on the new dates. We will also provide a refund to those that request it. We are suspending ticket sales until we release the new dates, and our box office manager will contact all existing ticket holders with ticket options.”
