Cedars Christian school drama students present Shakespeare's 12th Night Thursday to Saturday at 7 p.m. at Lakewood Alliance Church in Prince George.

The senior drama class at Cedars Christian School will showcase their talents during their presentation of Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night from Thursday to Saturday at Lakewood Alliance Church, 4001 Fifth Ave.

The play includes a set of twins (mistaken identities), a love triangle and an outrageous prank on a self-righteous butler. This performance will have children and adults laughing and appreciating Shakespeare like never before, Caroljoy Green, drama teacher, said.

The students rehearsed twice a week since school started and they’ve worked hard to master the original Shakespeare language.

“The language has its own rhythm and most of the lines are different than normal speech,” Green said. “It’s not as difficult as you’d think to get the words just right.”

The students were challenged to act in such a way that the plot would be understood even without words, and a narrator will fill in any missing blanks for the audience.

“We wanted kids to be able to enjoy this play and find it completely understandable,” Green added. “We’re sure audience members of all ages will enjoy the humour and appreciate the delightful characters.”

Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each or the family rate is seven tickets for $40. Tickets are available online at https://cedars.bc.ca/drama/. There are no paper tickets. It’s best to reserve a seat by buying a ticket in advance so you only need to show up and give your name. There may be limited seats for those with cash who arrive at the door.
