Laura Mitchell, who starred in the movie A Great North Christmas filmed in Prince George last year, has written a movie she will direct that starts filming Feb. 6 in town.

There’s another romance movie getting ready to shoot in Prince George and the call is out to cast a few key players.

The movie is called Meeting Mr. Christmas and filming takes place Feb. 6 to 19.

Writer and director of the new movie is Laura Mitchell, star of the last winterscape movie filmed here called A Great North Christmas.

Meeting Mr. Christmas is about a popular travel blogger’s negative impressions about Christmas that are challenged when she teams up with the holiday-loving town doctor in order to save her family’s annual Christmas event.

Some of the roles have already been cast, said Jana Phillips, one of the producers of the movie.

The supporting role of Sam, the bakery shop owner will be played by Marc-Anthony Massiah, most recently seen in Netflix’s Maid.

“I think the great thing about Laura being an actor is that she has these close friends she’s calling on to help with the movie and Marc-Anthony is one of those people,” Phillips said.

“We’re also looking for crew members for the movie as some of our former team has moved on to bigger and better things. We do have some positions we’ll be hiring for and we’re also looking for volunteers and extras but not as many as we had in Great North Christmas because these sets are not quite as big.”

There are some large crowd scenes where extras are needed, including a Christmas gala, children's Christmas carnival, sledding hill and a Christmas Carol competition.

Here’s who they need in bigger roles:

JACK - principal - Any age (open ethnicity)

Rugged and folksy Jack runs the Mayberry Sledding Hill. He donates one of his handmade sleds to the Montgomery Christmas Charity.

EMMA ADDISON - principal - 12-15 Years (open ethnicity)(singer)

Nervous and shy Emma is a contestant at Mayberry’s Annual Christmas Carol Competition, where she unfortunately gets stage fright. Luckily, community members are there to help her and she regains her confidence to finish the competition.

IZZY - 30’s (open ethnicity) Izzy is Sophie’s best friend and fellow travel blogger. Izzy is spunky, high energy and fashionable. Izzy cares a lot about her friend. They met on a plane three years ago returning home from Barbados and have been inseparable ever since.

MISS MORRISON - supporting - late 20’s to early to late 30’s (open ethnicity) (singer)

Pretty and affable, Mary Morrison is Mayberry Elementary School’s Grade 5 teacher. She is adored by her students and well known throughout the town. She flirts with Sam the bakery shop owner and later over the Christmas holiday their romance develops.
