As part of Theatre NorthWest's series of stage readings that offers the audience a covid-friendly live entertainment experience, local resident Solomon Goudward presents Smoke Sturgeon Friday at 7 p.m.

The play started out as an assignment for a creative writing class at UNBC and it sat for a while and then Goudsward was contacted by Theatre NorthWest about the stage readings and that's how it found its way onto the stage.

"I'm very thankful for the opportunity," Goudsward said. "The play is set in Prince George - partially set in a fictional version of Theatre NorthWest - so it's pretty great that it's here. It's a comedy but it's very philosophical and sort of deals with questions of religion and its meaning and all that fun stuff. So it's sort of cerebral on the one side while on the other side you don't really need to think about it that much if you don't want to - you can just come and have a good time."

It's a play about a play, which Goudsward said he's always liked when he sees stuff like that.
