Big chance for bands to grow

Vancouver Seeds contest starts soon

With a history of discovering some of Canada's brightest stars including Nickelback, Bif Naked, State of Shock, Matt Good, Default, Faber Drive, and Daniel Wesley, 99.3 The Fox is searching for B.C.'s next big breakout band with its contest Fox Vancouver Seeds starting Friday.

Last year's contest platinum award winner Stars of Boulevard were signed by Canada's most prestigious booking agency, The Agency Group, secured management with Adam Mott of Yeah Management in New York City and the band has recently shared the stage with Danko Jones, Godsmack, Steel Panther, Disturbed, and Papa Roach and are currently recording in Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette.

The website cfox.supernova.com provides year-round support and opportunities for B.C. artists to showcase their music and play live.

Beginning Friday, B.C. bands can enter Fox Vancouver Seeds 2011 online at cfox.supernova.com by creating their own profile.

Contestants can submit three original songs, photos, videos and a biography.

The deadline to submit is May 13 at 5 p.m.

There are two rounds to the contest.

Round 1: Fox listeners vote online at cfox.supernova.com to select the top-50 artists from all entries.

Round 2: 99.3 The Fox judges will then choose 19 finalists with fans will choose number 20. All 20 bands will perform live over eight nights for top industry professionals. Based on these industry votes three winners will be selected.

Prizes for Fox Vancouver Seeds 2011 will once again substantially assist the platinum award winner in launching their musical career. A full list of prizes will be announced at www.cfox.com on Friday.
