There's a Gothic mansion awaiting special guests to join the Menagerie by celebrating All Hallow's Eve at the Two Rivers Gallery Friday night 8 'til late.

This fundraiser for family programs at the gallery is a costume party for grown ups where exploring creativity is strongly encouraged.

"The holiday homes tour has run its very successful course so we've created Menagerie, a brand new fundraiser," said Cat Sivertsen, fund development and communications officer at Two Rivers Gallery. "Menagerie is about capturing the creative nature of us all and I know as children everybody loves Halloween and for me it was more the matter of dressing up rather than collecting all the sweeties. In Prince George there's lots of stuff going on for kids and young adults but there isn't that much going on for grown ups so we decided we're going to make this our first one and put it in the calendar for next year."

It was a conscious decision to hold the event at the gallery in order to invite people to become better acquainted with the facility.

"This will be a safe place to come for Halloween," said Sivertsen.

The decor a la biology department at UNBC finds skulls of all kinds of animals decorating the gallery walls. The cash bar is a science lab with creative beverages at the ready while the entertain will feature artists carving pumpkins, a DJ with a mixing deck, performers in cabaret style and a late night lunch.

"I'm not going to tell you who the performers are because everyone will be in costume and the person you're standing next to may just burst into song," said Sivertsen. "Isn't that cool?"

There are many door prizes and silent auction items up for grabs from a variety of local businesses.

"There will be best costume prizes and special guest judges," said Sivertsen. "And there will be a parade of best costumes and it will then be the people's choice. There is big prizes for that, too. There will be a prize for best male, best female and best couple."

Tickets are limited and cost $50 each plus HST. Call the Two Rivers Gallery at 250-614-7800 or reserve tickets online at www.tworiversgallery.ca.
