Conservation North is hosting a book launch and presentation where author Terry Nelson will discuss his new book The Big Trees of the Inland Temperate Forests of British Columbia.

Nelson’s book is a compilation of his many adventures over a five year time-span. This  illustrated field guide and big tree compendium is filled with fascinating facts and highlights of his adventures from remote backroads of B.C. to easily accessible sites.

Through photographs and writings, this book vividly captures Nelson’s adventures into the upper reaches of the Robson Valley in the north, the Cascade Highlands in the west, the Rocky Mountains in the east, and along the Canadian border to the south.

His work is intended to create a broader public awareness of the importance of ecosystems that support the diverse habitats that are old-growth forests. He encourages the reader to explore forests and to immerse ourselves in their great offerings.

“I hope that the resulting exposure will inspire a continued conservation ethos necessary to support these life sustaining ecological systems and the collective well being of all living things,” said Nelson.

The event takes place on Wednesday July 12 at 6 p.m. at Omineca Arts Centre at 369 Victoria St. Free finger food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.
