A team of rescuers raced against time to dig a thousand-metre trench by hand through chest-deep snow and 30-below weather to save the horses.

Come to the Prince George Public Library on Monday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. to hear author Birgit Stutz recount the dramatic story of how she and a group of brave residents from McBride risked their lives to save the two horses on the slopes of Mount Renshaw in December of 2008.

Stutz tells the story, which garnered national attention and praise, in her published book, The Rescue of Belle and Sundance.

The event will be held in the Keith Gordon Room of the Bob Harkins Branch and is free and open to everyone.
