The Prince George Symphony Orchestra presents "PGSO Home for the Holidays" on Saturday night, 7:30 p.m. at Vanier Hall. Joining the orchestra is guest soloist Veera Khare Asher, a Prince George girl now a renowned singer in the United States.

Joining the orchestra is guest soloist Veera Khare Asher, a Prince George girl now a renowned singer in the United States. She will be joined by local vocalists in the Bel Canto Choir and the Prince George Cantata Singers. Special guest conductor Broek Bosma will also be back in his home town for this event.

The music will be a collection of holiday favourites as well as selections from Handel's Messiah.

Sunday night brings a one-two singing combination to local audiences. Prince George recording artist and concert soloist Shant Van Horlick will share the stage at Art Space with Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Rae Armour. The show, entitled Winter Song, starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 each ($10 for students) and on sale now at Books & Company.

The Prince George Public Library has some great movies playing in the Keith Gordon Room at the Bob Harkins branch downtown right through the coldest time of the year.

Saturday at 1 p.m. will be a showing of the Christmas classic "Miracle on 34th Street".

Teenagers off for the Christmas break can hit the library for hours of boredom-busting entertainment next week.

On Monday there will be 13 episodes of the anime hit "D. Gray-man" running from noon to 5:30 p.m.

An even longer marathon happens Tuesday. The megahit "Lord of the Rings" trilogy starts at 11 a.m. and runs until the final credits at about 8:30 p.m.

Local guitar master Curtis Abriel returns to the Cafe Voltaire stage this Friday at 8 p.m. This is a free concert amongst the bookshelves of Books and Company.

From Saturday night through Christmas Eve come to the Railway & Forestry Museum for their Celebration of Lights. Santa is waiting for you to come celebrate the holiday season. Enjoy the museum's beautiful Christmas village, hot chocolate and roasting hot dogs and s'mores around a bonfire, ice skating, and rides on the Cottonwood Railway (weather permitting).
