The passing of the paintbrush will soon be upon the Community Arts Council.
The CAC annually chooses an artist from the area to be their artist-in-residence at the Studio 2880 complex, getting free and unfettered work space plus automatic entry in the long list of CAC events and activities.
The four previous artists-in-residence have gone on to become the cream of the local arts scene: Corey Hardeman, Cliff Mann, Crystalynn Tarr, and currently Carla Joseph.
Joseph still has possession of the studio keys, and her solo exhibition Norval wrapped up at the CAC feature gallery on Monday.
"As we look ahead, I am pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 artist-in-residence program. The eligibility requirements and application form are available on our website," said CAC executive director Sean Farrell. "This year we will be accepting applications from visual artists, media artists and interdisciplinary artists. Equal consideration will be given to established or emerging artists, but preference will be given to artists whose place of residence is in Prince George."
All disciplines will be considered, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, fibre arts, photography, video, new media, and audio.
The application form (available online or in person) must be filled out plus supporting documentation provided in a package to Sue Frizzell at Studio 2880 before June 1. Contact her for information at [email protected].
