Canadian artist Wendy Barteluk, from Prince George, showcases her Moment in Nature that reflects her frequent outdoor adventures.
The exhibit at the Community Arts Council of Prince George & District’s Studio 2880 opens with an artist’s talk on June 23 at 5:30 p.m. and goes until July 30.
"My partner and I are canoeists and riders, so we frequently explore trails and waterways in this part of the world,” Barteluk said. “What we have all learned in the past few years is the importance of nature to our well-being.”
Barteluk creates her traditional landscapes from photos.
“Largely I paint for myself,” she said.
“When I put paint to canvas, I remember the moment I saw the light on the lake, the island, the pelicans lifting off, the sound of the canoe slipping through the water, the light through the trees and I strive to capture the moment. Through this process I hope to portray a sense of place, to celebrate nature in a sometimes a sad world. I’m hoping that you will see something here that inspires you to explore this region.”
Wendy Barteluk is a professional artist currently residing in Prince George, BC. Her work has been in group and solo exhibits and in retail.
