Ramada Prince George workers issue 72-hour strike notice

Workers at Ramada Plaza Prince George hotel will be in a strike position, effective 11 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Represented by UNITE HERE Local 40, they delivered 72 hours strike notice on Monday.

"Most of the 40 housekeepers, front desk agents, banquet staff and Starbucks baristas earn significantly less than the $21.19 living wage needed to support a family in Prince George. Workers want the employer to close the pay gap so that they can keep up with the rising cost of living in the area," the union said in a statement.

The hotel is operated by Days Hospitality Limited, based in Etobicoke, Ont.
