A Squamish man got himself into some trouble back east on Boxing Day.
The 35-year-old Squamish resident was arrested and charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide breath samples on Dec. 26, according to Kingston Police.
The man was first seen hitting the curb and swerving, police said, but shortly afterward he ran a red light and began travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of Gardiners Road, a commercial area of Kingston, Ontario. He then ran another red light, later accelerated through an intersection, drove into the oncoming lanes — narrowly avoiding another vehicle. He eventually ran over a concrete island.
The police received several calls about the man, according to a Kingston police new release.
With on-going information and assistance from witnesses, police located the Squamish man, as he was driving eastbound in a westbound lane.
He was transported to police headquarters where he later refused to provide breath samples, according to police.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and he will face a one-year suspension if convicted.
The vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded for seven days.
The name of the man was not released.
