Afghan children will die because of US funding cuts, an aid agency official said Tuesday.

EDMONTON — Alberta is seeking a new chief medical officer of health as the government says Dr. Mark Joffe's contract has expired. Health Minister Adriana LaGrange's office said in an email Tuesday that Joffe's contract expired a day prior.

The changes come after both the Canadian Medical Association and Doctors of BC advocated for sick note requirements to be eliminated last year.

Anne Kange, the minister of post-secondary education and future skills, called the decrease from the federal government "drastic."
