Consider four buses as blank slates as the Northern Indigenous Arts Council puts a call out for artwork submissions.

The council is working with Diversified Transportation Ltd. to find artwork from Indigenous artists affiliated with regional communities served by BC Bus North.

Any art form is welcome as long as it can be transformed to large scale digital images.

“NIAC sees this as an opportunity for local indigenous artists to bring their artwork to the people of the North without them leaving their communities,” Diane Levesque, president, Northern Indigenous Arts Council, said. "It is not often that artists can apply their work to an outdoor travelling 'venue' that covers such a big geographic area. With so many galleries closed, this is the right time to undertake this initiative."

The adorned buses will travel between Prince Rupert and Prince George, Prince George and Valemount, Prince George and Fort St. John and Fort Nelson and Dawson Creek.

Deadline is May 7 at 5 p.m.

Submissions of original designs/concepts will be accepted from Indigenous artists residing in Northern BC communities. From these submissions a committee will choose artists whose work will be selected for refinement, fabrication and application.
