Support PG is offering locals a chance to check out local holiday options with a contest called Passport For Your Summer Vacation.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to discover what your own “backyard” has to offer, there’s a great new contest offering staycation packages as prizes that can help you explore Prince George.

As COVID-19-related travel and public gathering restrictions begin to ease, Support PG is offering locals a chance to check out local holiday options while supporting local businesses with a contest called Passport For Your Summer Vacation.

The contest prizes are in keeping with the better summer weather and include choices geared towards adventure and experiencing the great outdoors as well as ones that will help locals explore the city’s urban offerings, including restaurants and hotels.

Currently, the staycation contest is in round two, which will award a prize titled “Stay Challenged,” offered through Tourism Prince George and The Adventure Bus.

It will give the winner (plus three others) a choice between a pair of hikes - either Teapot or Coffee Pot Mountain - guided by local tour operator The Adventure Bus, and lunch on the trail.

On your return trip, you’ll get to stop to explore either Huble Homestead or Salmon Valley Campground followed by one last hike.

Plus, you can wrap up your local adventure with a private wine-tasting and charcuterie board at Northern Lights Estate Winery.

To enter the contest, simply visit SupportPG.ca/contest and download a printable passport. Once you have it, you can begin visiting the more than 50 participating local businesses and start collecting Support PG stickers at each store’s check-out.

For every five stickers you collect, you earn one contest entry, with up to a maximum of 25 stickers and five entries per passport.

You can also earn an extra entry if you share a positive story about any of the participating businesses in your Facebook or Instagram timeline. Just make sure to tag @SupportPG and include #SupportPGSummerVacay in your post.

When you’ve collected your passport stickers, send a picture of them to Support PG’s Facebook or Instagram page.

Entry deadline for round two of the contest is July 27, with the draw for the winner taking place July 28. Round 3 of the contest begins on July 28, with the staycation package that will be given away as a prize yet to be announced.
