The best team during the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League regular season won't get the chance to add a playoff title.

This coming Saturday, members of Grewal Group will be spectators while the Open Division championship game unfolds between Molson/Assante and JTM Home Solutions. The match-up was the result of a pair of upsets - one major and the other minor - in semifinal games played last weekend.

In the first semifinal, held late Sunday afternoon at the NCSSL fields, top-seeded Grewal Group fell 3-0 to fourth-ranked Molson/Assante. Grewal Group entered the contest having lost just three games all season (record of 16-3-1). Meanwhile, Molson/Assante was coming off a 10-9-1 regular season.

In the other semi, played Sunday night, third-seeded JTM Home Solutions (10-6-4) knocked off second-seeded Inland Controls (11-6-3). At the final whistle, JTM celebrated a 3-1 victory.

Saturday's final is slated for 4:15 p.m.

Playoff championship games in two other divisions are also on the schedule. At noon, the top-ranked Mr. Quick Gunners (17-4-0) will take on third-seeded Subway (11-8-2) in the 45+ final. Then, at 2 p.m., regular-season champ Splash Media/Assante (13-6-1) will face third-place finisher Queensway Autoworld (7-11-2) in the 30+ final.

In the semifinals, Mr. Quick edged the last-place Moxies Caledonians - who endured a winless regular season - 2-1, and Splash Media/Assante dumped Team Powerhouse 3-0.
