Spruce Kings Poisson, Williams picked for Canada West camp

Prince George Spruce Kings winger Nicholas Poisson and centre Fin Williams have been selected for the Canada West team tryouts Dec. 1-3 in Calgary.

They are among 22 B.C. Hockey League players invited to the camp, which will include four goaltenders, 14 defencemen and 26 forwards vying for spots on the team which will play in the World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, Dec. 7-15.

Canada plays a pre-tournament game Thursday, Dec. 5 in Fort St. John against Russia and will open the tournament against the United States on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Dawson Creek.

Poisson, 18, in his second BCHL season, currently leads the Spruce Kings in scoring with 30 points, including 11 goals, in 28 games. Williams, a 16-year-old BCHL rookie, hasn't played since Oct. 13, when he was cut by a skate blade and suffered a deep gash  on the back of his leg. He had seven goals and 15 points in 13 games at the time of his injury.
