The 19-year-old Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender stopped 36 of the 37 shots the Rivermen fired his way Saturday night, backing the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 2-1 victory.
For the second consecutive night, Ben Brar, the overtime hero for the Kings in their 5-4 win Friday in Coquitlam, provided the gamewinner. Brar scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season, an unassisted effort while shorthanded, 8:43 into the second period to give the Kings a 2-0 lead.
Kings centre Dustin Manz, with his third goal in two games, opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period, scoring 5:45 into the game.
Kalen Szeto replied for the Rivermen, breaking up Neaton's bid for his first career BCHL shutout with 5:36 left in the third period.
The win allowed the Spruce Kings (10-4-0-1) to leapfrog ahead of the Coquitlam Express (10-5-1-0) into second place in the BCHL's Mainland Division. Each team has 21 points, five behind the league-leading Chilliwack Chiefs, who have played two more games than the Spruce Kings. Langley (7-6-0-0) remained fourth in the division.
The Chiefs lost 5-2 Saturday night to the Vees in Penticton.
Prince George will wrap up its three-game roadtrip Sunday afternoon in Coquitlam.
