The Prince George Spruce Kings got behind the 8-ball early and the Surrey Eagles ran the table.

The Eagles played inhospitable hosts to the Kings Friday night in Surrey, scoring on three of their first seven shots to take a 3-0 first-period lead and never looked back, winning 7-2.

Holden Kazatlay and Buddy Johnson each collected two goals and an assist for the Eagles (8-13-0-2), who remained fifth in the BCHL’s Mainland Division. Gabe Schovanek, Brandon Santa Juana and Christophe Tellier also scored for Surrey.

Both Kings goals, from Corey Cunningham and Nicholas Poisson, came on second-period power plays.

Jett Alexander took the loss in net for Prince George, allowing five goals on 27 shots. Jack McGovern came into the game to relieve Alexander 14 minutes into the second period with the Kings down 3-1 and allowed two goals on four shots in 3:23 of game time before he was replaced by Alexander. Thomas Scarfone allowed just two goals on 34 shots to pick up the win in the Eagles nets. The Kings outshot the Eagles 34-32.

The Kings (8-10-2-2, third in Mainland) finish off their three-game roadtrip Saturday in Chilliwack against the Chiefs (11-7-4-1, second in Mainland).
