The Big Guy Lake Blazers finished third out of 25 teams at the Canadian Native Fastball Championships, held last weekend in Regina.

The Blazers posted a 3-2 record at the event. After an opening-round bye, they rolled to consecutive victories against the TM Chiefs, Little Black Bear and the Peguis Redmen.

In the A semifinal on Sunday morning, the Blazers fell 3-1 to the eventual champion Westbank Cardinals. In that game, winning pitcher Caleb Keeshing fanned 16 Big Guy Lake batters. All the runs were scored in the first inning.

The Blazers ended nationals with a loss to the host club, Gordon's Golden Hawks.

Big Guy Lake chucker Josh Anderson pitched every inning for the team. Anderson was a pick-up player from Prince George's Falcon Contracting, as were Chad Ghostkeeper, Randy Potskin, Nick Potskin, Jarrett Potskin and Shelby Tom. Blazers regulars Norm Linton, Jeremy Gervais and Jarin Sutton all made their presence felt at the plate during the event.

The Blazers plan to attend next year's nationals in Winnipeg.
