Duchess Park, Nechako Valley 1-1 at provincials

The Duchess Park Condors had a tall order on their hands on Day 2 of the triple-A girls provincial basketball championship in Langley. They had to tangle with the top-ranked Abbotsford Panthers in a quarterfinal playoff Thursday.

The Duchess Park Condors had a tall order on their hands on Day 2 of the triple-A girls provincial basketball championship in Langley.

They had to tangle with the top-ranked Abbotsford Panthers in a quarterfinal playoff Thursday.

The Panthers got what they were after, defeating the North Central zone-champion Condors 76-49 to advance to Friday's semifinal against Argyle.

The ninth-ranked Condors, who opened the 16-team tournament Wednesday with a 68-58 win over G.W. Graham, drop into the consolation bracket and will take on South Kamloops Friday at 1:15 p.m.

In the win against Graham, Logan Cruz hit for 20 points to lead the Condors, while Kamrynne Hampe collected up 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hanah Louckes finished with 11 points.

Meanwhile,at the double-A girls provincial championship Thursday in Langley, the Nechako Vallley Viqueens topped Summerland 57-46 to even their record to 1-1. Nechako Valley faces Southridge Friday at 1:45 p.m. The Viqueens dropped their opening game on Wednesday, losing 104-28 to St. Thomas More Collegiate.
