Aboriginal soccer titles up for grabs

Spots in the 2017 North American Indigenous Games will go to the winners.

Starting today at 8 a.m., the B.C. Aboriginal provincial youth soccer championships - featuring 24 regional all-star teams spread across four divisions - will kick into action in Prince George. Games will be held at Michelle Lamarche, North Cariboo and Rotary fields.

The championships have Under-18 girls and boys divisions, as well as Under-15 girls and boys groups.

Championship finals are set for Sunday at 10 a.m. (U18 girls) and noon (U18 boys, U15 girls, U15 boys).

The tournament is being presented by the Northern Sport Centre, in partnership with the Prince George Native Friendship Centre.

The 2017 North American Indigenous Games will be held in July of that year in Toronto.
