Award-winning Core Salon & Spa is excited to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
“It’s a big deal to us because we never thought we’d get this far,” owner and general manager Lisa Blake says.
“Owning a salon, owning our own business was like a fantasy. It wasn’t even a dream that could come true, it was a fantasy. We wouldn’t be here without our faithful clientele. That’s how we’ve survived. They mean everything to us.”
Blake co-owns the salon with her sister, Leeann Brent. A third sister works in the salon as a master stylist.
“Leeann is a master stylist and manages the salon. I work behind the scenes,” Blake says.
“I work on the business and she works in the business, which makes us a good team.”
The sisters named the salon Core because they wanted to reflect their philosophy of having a positive impact on the inner core, not just the outer appearance.
“We want the experience to affect you in such a way you feel like your spirits were lifted that day and you can’t wait to see us again.”
That means ensuring the staff is trained to provide the very highest standards of care.
“We want the whole experience from beginning to end to be top notch and something very memorable,” Blake says.
As the salon grows and evolves, Core is adding more people to the team to meet the growing demand for services.
“We’ve added more new stylists to our professional team. We really want to accommodate everyone,” Blake says.
Core is celebrating its milestone anniversary with a special event on Friday, Sept. 17 featuring the local radio station and special door prizes. They’re also holding special online draws every Friday for four weeks, starting on Sept. 10.
The anniversary event is another opportunity for Core to give back to their community, something that they’ve dedicated themselves to for the past 10 years.
In recognition of their volunteer work, they received the Great Neighbourhood Certificate of Appreciation, for aiding people who were displaced from the fires.
“We feel that doing good will result in good,” Blake says.
“We’re family owned and we want to treat everyone like family.”
