The body of Alice Maureen Chingee, a 62-year-old woman who was reported missing from the Mackenzie area on June 18, 2024, has been found, RCMP confirmed Friday, July 11.
Police say her death is not considered suspicious.
The RCMP offered its condolences to Chingee’s family and friends, who kept up a dedicated social media campaign in the search for her. This include a highway sign and other efforts to raise awareness about the case.
The Mackenzie RCMP launched an extensive investigation following her disappearance, which lasted more than seven months and involved searches and public appeals for information.
While no foul play is suspected, investigators believe someone may have information that could help provide closure.
