Construction is on pace to beat last year's record, according to the latest building permit report from city hall.
As of the end of March, 101 permits for $26.9 million worth of construction were taken out so far this year, up from $24.9 million by the same point last year. 2018 finished at a record-setting $186.4 million.
However, the value of permits taken out in March stood at $11.1 million, down slightly from $11.3 million over the same month in 2018.
At $12.3 million over 23 permits, construction of new single-family homes has led the way. Of that total, 11 permits adding up to $9 million worth of work were taken in out March.
The next busiest category, year-to-date, was multiple-family homes at $7.5 million over 11 permits. None were taken out in that category in March.
