Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Patricia Lynne Finn (formerly Forsberg), passed away peacefully at Hospice House surrounded by love of family and God’s grace on July 15, 2025, at the age of 83, after a short but courageous battle with brain cancer. Pat had a deep faith and reverence for the Mass and Eucharist, as well as lifelong devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary. She participated in the Lay Formation program 2007-2009 and completed her studies to become an Oblate Associate of Mary Immaculate in 2024.
Pat was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 29, 1941. At age five, her family moved to Tacoma, WA, where her father was a career Master Sargent in the US Army at Fort Lewis. As a child she loved sports, the outdoors, and had a passion for art and drawing. Pat graduated from high school in 1959 and moved to Seattle where she worked in a clerical job until she married Carl Forsberg in 1961. In April of 1968, Pat and Carl immigrated to Canada, the first family to serve with Bishop O’Grady’s Frontier Apostles. They had four children: Theresa (1962), Gordon (1964), Erica (1965) all born in Seattle, WA, and Charles (1971) born in Prince George. They settled in Prince George and became Canadian citizens in 1976. Pat’s life revolved around family and community. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved cooking, baking, gardening, and exploring art through drawing, painting, and sculpture. She inspired a love of art and music with her family, always willing to lend her boundless creativity to any project.
Pat and Carl returned to post-secondary studies as mature students in 1983. She attended the College of New Caledonia and University of Victoria where she majored in Visual Arts before returning to Prince George in 1986. She trained in Shotokan Karate with Charles, receiving her black belt under her Senior, John Leitch, in 1995. In 1987, she began a career at Prince George Regional Hospital in the dietary department then as a health records technician until her retirement in 2006. Following retirement, she was a doting grandmother and loved her excursions to Europe, the United States, and Vancouver Island. Pat had a particular joy for musical theatre, symphony, ballet, choir, and opera. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish most of her life. She will be greatly missed for her love and service to the faith community as a lector, leader of prayer, creator for art and environment, and a member of the Liturgy Committee and Schola music ministry. Her beautiful harmonies and love of singing will be forever remembered.
Pat is survived by her son Gordon (Sheila), daughter Erica, son Charles (Rasa), son-in-law Mark Goudreau, grandchildren Rachelle, Matthew (Celina), Keith, Kirsten (Jeremy), Jaron (Elise), Josef, Mary (Tyler), and Patricija, great grandchildren Tallulah, Minuette, and Theodore, sister Carole Rodems, brother George Kerin (Kathleen) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends all of whom she loved and cherished. Pat was predeceased by her dear daughter Theresa Goudreau, brother-in-law John Rodems, and parents Carl & Teresa Kerin.
Pat dedicated her life to her family and service to many charities and volunteer organizations including Birthright, Catholic Women’s League, Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice House, Northern Uganda Development Foundation, and St. Vincent De Paul.
