I just bought a house on Campbell Avenue. Behind my house is Campbell park, and I have access to this park through my back yard. This park is a mess. I am disappointed and disgusted that this park is not cared for. It needs to be cleaned up as it is not safe at all. The bush is so high all around the park that you are unable to access the park, unless you follow the one small path from 22nd Avenue to Pinewood Elementary.
Tonight I was out walking and as I walked through the parking lot of the apartments on Campbell Ave, I noticed a family of 6 people, including children, with clippers and other tools cutting their own path to the park. The funny thing is is that where they were cutting the path was a sign reading "public walkway".
That is pretty pathetic.
I could not even tell there was supposed to be a walkway there.
I am very disappointed with the City of Prince George. If you own a park, and have a sign stating that you do, take care of it. Make sure it is safe for public use, and can actually be seen by the public for use.
I will be opening my own daycare in September, and this park was something that I loved the idea of when purchasing my home.
I hope the city is out here soon to clean it up.
