For the past several years, I have made Kelowna my family summer vacation and included the H2O facility visits as a highlight. I have always been impressed by the high class operation, the cleanliness, staff professionalism, and wide range of classes offered (even a Jugo Juice!).
The option of going to the pool at the same time as visiting the gym is a huge convenience. With increased pool membership, our local YMCA could also offer such a high class facility and service our community far better than having separate pool facilities. Our local YMCA has been a cornerstone for many years providing health benefits for all. They have the expertise and knowledge to focus on health programs for all walks of life including rehabilitation, elderly assisted, etc.; this is their main purpose. Having a pool as part of the Y would increase and improve these services.
H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre is Kelowna's world-class aquatics recreation, health, and fitness facility offering a wide variety of amenities and fun activities for all ages. Make a splash in one of our pools; join your fellow Kelowna neighbours in a fitness group; and, have your young ones take part in some of the many child and youth activities offered year-round.
Owned by the City of Kelowna and operated by the YMCA of Okanagan since 2009, H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre programs and services include a 12,000 sq. ft. fitness floor and fitness classes, regular kids programming, child minding, swim lessons, a fully equipped pool and waterpark and some excellent training opportunities.
I see the City of Prince George working with our local YMCA to create a valuable health resource and family attraction for Prince George. The inconvenience of locating the pool downtown versus 5-10 minutes away at the Y which includes far more parking doesn't make sense. We need to think about the best alternative for the millions being invested!
