The issue here isn't whether we need another rink, it is whether we can afford to build and provide an operating subsidy to another rink. The answer may be yes, but the funds cannot come for the Canada Winter Games capital funding pool.
Hockey already has 85 per cent of the games capital funding and there are another 20 sports or so to accommodate from this finite source.
Wouldn't it also be nice if we had an ice oval that didn't melt during the Iceman? Wouldn't it be nice if we had a curling rink where the roof didn't leak? Wouldn't be nice if there were more lights at Otway? Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to borrow a school gym for a racket event?
Ah yes - wouldn't it be nice if we all got what we wanted.
