It's difficult to believe that someone intelligent enough to earn a PhD would write such a ridiculous column as "Engineers face ethical dilemma over pipelines" by Chris Kennedy in Saturday's Citizen. Even if the global warming scam were true (science clearly demonstrates that it isn't, but let's pretend it is) there would be absolutely no ethical dilemma for an engineer to put his stamp of approval on a pipeline.
Building a new pipeline to sell our oil offshore will not result in so much as one ounce of additional CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere. The world demand for fossil fuels is increasing, and it will continue to increase as Third World nations modernize. The world has an overabundance of fossil fuels, including oil. Our potential customers will not give up burning the stuff and if they can't get it from us, they'll just get it elsewhere.
Dr. Kennedy didn't think logically when writing his opinion. It was clearly the result of pandering to irrational ideology.
