Fun wine labels help to create a certain mood, and when it's backed by a famous artist that's just more to talk about with friends.
Bear Flag wines are inspired by not only the creativity of the winemakers but also the inspiration from Eduardo Bertone's artwork on their labels.
If you want a fun dry red then Bear Flag should be your next choice.
If you would like something a little more complex, full of ripe fruit flavours and sporting a slightly more traditional wine label, then you might like La Posta Cocina Blend.
If you're very traditional and expect your wine labels to be a reflection of your personality, then I suggest trying the new sparkling Veuve du Vernay Ros, full of freshly picked strawberry and
raspberry - yummy.
BEAR FLAG
DARK RED BLEND (170977)
CALIFORNIA
$12.99
Modesto California is located in the central valley of northern California where some of the most fertile farmland is.
Here lies the home of Bear Flag wines. Winemakers Beth Culter and Hillary Forbess are young entrepreneurs full of life who bring their own personalities to each wine. Hillary is very full of life and believes bringing this energy into her wine.
While Beth is most inspired by her motto "it is a
feeling not a flavour."
Some of you may already be familiar with Bear Flag wines. Their labels are eye catching to say the least.
Designed by famous artist, illustrator, graphic designer Eduardo Bertone who has worked for Mercedes-Benz and Swatch, the labels match the wine.
They are fun and make a great conversation starter. This year, Bear Flag has a new addition to their family - Dark Red Blend.
This red blend is predominantly Zinfandel with splashes of grapes you may be less familiar with like Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Petite Verdot and Alicante.
When blended together, these grapes create a full bodied, fruit forward, dry red. $12.99
LA POSTA
COCINA BLEND (779520)
ARGENTINA
$16.99
La Posta winery's label is a product of the dedication and effort of the Pizzella, Paulucci and Armandos families.
These three families provide La Posta with top grade grapes grown in Mendoza, Argentina to produce their wines. The name La Posta comes from a tavern where men sat around and shared their experiences and their winemaking passions.
The two main industries of Mendoza are olive oil production and winemaking. Wine Advocate rates this wine at 90 points with its rich complex flavours.
I can see why. Even better, this blend of Malbec,
Bonarda and Syrah won't break the bank.
Deep purple in colour this red has ripe fruit aromas and flavours of cherry and raspberry followed by a hint of vanilla and spice.
For this quality, I think $16.99 is a steal.
VEUVE DU VERNAY
BRUT ROS (610048)
FRANCE
$13.99
As some of my readers may already know, sparkling wines are for everyday not just special
occasions.
Unlike our European friends, we Canadians tend to only share sparkling wines for weddings,
birthdays, anniversaries etc.
While I am not saying have a bottle every day, I encourage my customers to treat their family, friends and themselves with a bottle every once in a while.
The Veuve du Vernay Ros is produced in the famous Bordeaux region from grapes sourced from all over France.
Like traditional champagne, this sparkling ros is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
This Ros is very aromatic and is
bursting with fruity bubbles.
Once in my mouth, I was overwhelmed with the taste of strawberries and raspberries, which lingered in the mouth resulting in a good finish.
This would be a perfect addition for a romantic picnic once all the snow is gone.
It comes in two convenient sizes a 200 ml and 750 ml. Great little gift idea! $13.99
