Dear Editor,

A million dollar (plus) baby not even the City of Prince George will use

We elect a Mayor and Council who campaign on a promise that are going to work to "open" the city for business. The first actions was to appoint a Select Business Committee to study the way the city does business, which means Mayor and Council are not capable of such a task. One of the next things is to approve the city budget that contains $1,024,904 for Initiatives Prince George that has a total operating budget of $1,624,294 for 2012.Initiatives Prince George that is supposed to be an advisory corporation that welcomes new businesses to Prince George and as quoted from their website "we concentrate on encouraging the development and diversification of the Prince George economy through a variety of initiatives".

There you have it; Initiatives Prince George is a million dollar plus organization that not even the City Of Prince George will use. Mayor Green has suggested that it would be gracious for Tim McEwan to come back to the table (trough) and negotiate something a little less sweet" than his $140,000 severance, then it would also be the "right" for IPG to return the City of Prince George taxpayer's $1,024,904.

After spending $81,147.55 (that was declared) on campaign expenses and only attracting only 6,969 votes from people thinking Mayor Green could do the job, she has found she can't do it without the aid of an assistant. As controversial as that is, it is better she gets some help now before getting in any deeper in a position she is unable to handle.I certainly hope that Mayor Green has done her due diligence and chose an assistant has some great credentials.
