In his column on Tuesday, Todd Whitcombe made two points I would like to comment on.
First, he wrote that "race is a fictitious notion as we are a single species - as evidenced by the ability of any two humans to generate offspring."
The statement "the ability of any two humans to generate offspring" is absolutely wrong because to generate offspring you need a male and a female in the animal kingdom and in plants kingdom, you need male and female parts of a flower.
Two men or two women can't generate offspring. Even you can't have light from a lightbulb without a negative and a positive charge.
Second, he wrote that "many workers are suffering from the collapse of the American economy over the past decade and are looking for someone to blame" and that is wrong too. The American economy was suffering before the Obama presidency but it recovered quickly in Obama's reign, which you can judge, for example, from the comparison of the loonie to the U.S. dollar. At one point, the loonie was more than the U.S. dollar but now it is the opposite and the U.S. dollar is far above the loonie.
