What’s leftist?

I read Nathan Giede's column last Wednesday, which encouraged us to celebrate June 15 whether we are leftists or normal people. I would welcome an explanation of what constitutes leftist since I assume anything outside of normal constitutes leftist.

I would welcome an explanation of what constitutes leftist since I assume anything outside of normal constitutes leftist.
