Things kept in privies tend to get wet and smell foul. There are two meanings for the word "privy". One meaning is private and the other is an outhouse.

The way she used the word is totally incorrect. She should have said "I don't believe we are privy to that". Perhaps she learned to read and write English from some of the same people who presently carrying placards and hanging out at our schools.
