Waste disposal solutions buried

In the last few years Prince George has made some long overdue adjustments to its waste disposal histories.

One of them is the current curbside recycling program and fairly efficient household-garbage collection system.

There are a number of other projects but I want something done to address what I see as a major opportunity and, even more so, a major responsibility which could generate business ventures in our region while 'setting the bar' even higher for surrounding communities.

This project would service hard plastics of size and construct which, at present, still find themselves joining the ever-growing waste piles conveniently hidden in our landfills.

Large hard plastic objects are constantly sought, purchased, and discarded at phenomenal rates with only token concern.

Having no specific knowledge of future disposal plans to address the issue, I confess, I can but guess at whether or not our city intends to take a lead-profile or continuously confound the issue by just burying the large stuff and hoping some future generation can figure out a way to deal with it. The latter attitude I should think reflects the old ignorance whereby generations thought, out of sight equals problem solved.

I hope the citizens of our fair little city can agree with me on this because it is worsening at an exponential rate.
