Wake up and smell the coffee Mr. Rogers

I have to write this letter after hearing our great mayor is now thinking about raising the price of business licences. I've noticed a trend since Mr. Rogers has become mayor of Prince George.

I have to write this letter after hearing our great mayor is now thinking about raising the price of business licences.

I've noticed a trend since Mr. Rogers has become mayor of Prince George. Every time I pick up a newspaper or watch the city council on TV, we need more money. Since Mr. Rogers has been mayor, our water/garbage/sewer taxes have gone up every six months. I thought the idea of the new garbage trucks was to save us money, or at least this is what we were all told at the time. Then I read in the paper how he wants to cut down on plowing the city streets in winter to save money. Now I see he wants to raise the price of business licences. I have lived in Prince George for the last 52 years, I'm sure long before Mr. Rogers was here.

I have never in my time seen the city streets so bad, nor have I seen the city so poorly managed.

Does he not realize that the people are already taxed to death and now he wants more. Maybe he should look at taking a pay cut, or stop some of these business trips he says is for the betterment of Prince George.

I watched the city street sweepers out cleaning Ospika the day after it snowed. So, was this a total waste of money on the city's part? Other times I watch as the city dig up a road, then pave over it only to be back two weeks later digging it all up again. Just another way of wasting the taxpayers' money. Now he wants to cut back on clearing our streets in the winter.

But I wonder if Mr. Rogers gets together with ICBC as the RCMP does before they decide on ideas that concern the public safety. Do they not realize this will just make our city more dangerous with more accidents in the winter.

The taxpayers of Prince George have to stand up to Mr. Rogers and say enough is enough.

Wake up and smell the coffee Mr. Rogers. In these hard times we should be looking at ways to save the taxpayers' money, not making it harder on them.

But I guess that's only for cities that really care about their taxpayers. I really hate to think what will happen when the (Canada) Winter Games come to Prince George.

This is only one man's opinon.
