I have been on the waiting list for a knee replacement for one year.
It took me four years just to get in to see a specialist and get an MRI. When I phone to see where I am on the list, they tell me I have another four to six months to wait. I know people who are not as bad off as I am and they got theirs done within four months.
I have a seven-year-old grandson that we are raising and I work on my feet all day, I can't afford to take any more time off work. I talked to the surgeon, he said it is up to hospital booking. Hospital booking says it's up to the surgeon. This is supposed to be the university hospital of the north but I wouldn't take my sick dog there.
It's all who you know to get anything done.
My health is going down hill because I can't do anything. This is such crap! Something really needs to be done about the wait list, and the care of people of Prince George. They wonder why people go to Vancouver to get anything done. And what does the MLA say (it's out of our hands). I need my job and to keep my job I need my knee done NOW!
People of Prince George we need to make noise, we shouldn't have to put up with this.
