Unreasonable coverage

Bravo! Once again The Citizen has shown its compassion to the public.

Bravo! Once again The Citizen has shown its compassion to the public. Why do you feel it necessary to have a picture, on the front page, none the less, of the deceased from an accident or homicide?

Is there no compassion out there for the families and friends of the deceased? How would you like to go through the pain of losing a loved one in a sudden manner and then to see a picture of them lying there covered with a blanket or in a body bag?

The families and friends are going through enough pain,. There is absolutely no reason to have those pictures splashed all over the newspaper.

I have written about this before and I am still appalled at your lack of compassion for these people. People say it is good to show these pictures so people will realize the seriousness of car accidents or homicides etc, well you can always show the picture of the smashed cars but you do not need to have the picture of the body in there.

People know that accidents can be fatal, showing a picture of a deceased person is not going to change the way people drive.

Next time stop and think about the families and friends of the deceased, put yourself in their shoes and imagine how you would feel seeing your father, son, mother, daughter etc. lying there dead on the front page of the newspaper.

Not only have I had to put myself in their shoes, I have lived this same experience and that is why I feel so strongly about this.
