I was recently visiting Prince George when I heard news that the Pine Valley Golf Course was upheld by a vote of the city council.
I commend the efforts of the Friends of Pine Valley in saving this valuable green space. As a visitor, I see Pine Valley as a microcosm of the regional environmental damage of the pine beetle. Local people can take strength in getting back a sense of renewal. It is a lightening rod for young and old to come together and share the passion of a great sport. Public golf courses are extremely valuable in cities large and small. Good folk need to have access to affordable municipal facilities. They cost a lot to maintain but the pay back is worth it in the long run. I appreciate Pine Valley as a golfing tourist and I want to thank the friends for protecting it. So keep it going P.G.
