I was fortunate enough to see Tom Petty play Pittsburgh on June 9th of this year on his 40th Anniversary and what turned out to be his farewell tour.
Tom reproduced his album sound flawlessly, was humble and truly appreciative of the audience's positive feedback.
He was unselfish in allowing each of his band members a solo moment in the spotlight, a time to shine. He had a history of fighting for what he believed in - in a non confrontational way, including penning Let's Bring Peace to L.A. in the wake of the 1991 Rodney King riots.
In an industry so full of big egos where real talent is rare, this guy was a great example of integrity. So for those of you who complain about politicians but never vote or carp about social problems but never volunteer, take heed.
Learn from Tom's example, take action and be the change that you seek.
